Restoration and Service Improvement Group Meeting Information

The South West Surgery in Children Restoration and Service Improvement Group was established in 2020 to facilitate discussions around pathways and policies during the pandemic. The focus of the meeting has evolved to review service improvements that will support theatre efficiencies and also consider wider service improvements related to childrens surgery. Items included on the agenda include:

  • Updates on national guidance, reports, tools and case studies regarding restoration of children’s surgical services
  • Review of data available nationally to support an understanding of patient waiting lists for childrens surgical procedures
  • Sharing examples of good practice to improve theatre efficiencies and flow such as ‘Walk In Walk Out’ and ‘Super Saturday’ policies and planning
  • Local updates from teams across the region around developments and challenges to provision of childrens surgical services

Group membership and the meeting are open to any NHS staff supporting paediatric surgical pathways at any organisation across the South West. Meetings are held three times per year and papers, presentations and resources are shared through our NHS Futures Platform which is open to any NHS staff working in childrens surgery within the region.
