The SW Surgery in Children Operational Delivery Network Trauma & Orthopaedic Clinical Working Group has collaborated to agree best practice recommendations for the management of slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) in children across the region. The group worked collaboratively to share existing pathways and attempt to agree and outline best practice for this patient pathway. The group agreed to focus on the pathway as it was felt it would be helpful to agree a common approach and notably the national Paediatric Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery GIRFT report recommends a regional approach is agreed for this cohort of patients.
The core network team worked with members to facilitate discussions and will support the review and audit of the pathway across the region.
