On 24th January 2022, the South West Surgery In Children ODN facilitated an education session which was led by colleagues at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston on the Management of Surgically Placed Feeding Tubes in Children (Gastrostomies, Gastrojejunal tubes and Jejunostomies). Ahead of the session, a survey was written and shared with regional colleagues to help develop an understanding of current pathways and practice across the South West.
The education session included feedback from the regional survey which was delivered by Catherine Bradshaw, Consultant Surgeon, followed by two education sessions; Gastrostomy and Gastrojejunal tube types, insertions and indications by Catherine Bradshaw, and Gastrostomy and Gastrojejunal tube care and common complications by Rebecca Swinbank & Kate Wills, Gastrostomy Clinical Nurse Specialists. It was agreed that the educational session would be recorded and made available to all network members across the region:

Please note: the session is aimed at clinical colleagues who are part of the South West Surgery in Children Operational Delivery Network. In order to support sharing of practice, it has been made available publicly for colleagues across the country to view as well. This session will not replace any formal training requirements or local policies and practice – it is for sharing and collaboration for peer support purposes.
We would be grateful if any clinical individuals who watch the session could please provide feedback on the session via our evaluation form.
